WTF MTV Canada!? P.1

Firstly, let me state that I used to LOVE going to MTV Canada's MTV Live for a multitude of reasons, such as, the celebrity guests/performances, the show's content, and the free swag. There were meaningful discussions about current events that allowed people from all over the city to get a chance to voice their opinion without it being screened in advance. I made friends and acquaintances just by showing up. I was even starting to friend up the crew. But that all changed sometime last year.

Someone clever thought, let's change the show from 1hr to 30 mins....and let's stop the audience interaction...yeah. Bad move. They changed the format of the show so that viewers and audience members alike just get to sit there and watch pointless bits and listen to Daryn Jones (the host of the show) talk with occassional applause and laughter from the few people that show up in studio.

There used to be funny/interesting/thought provoking segments like Jessi Cruickshank's Dirt, or Gilson Lubin's Word from the Street, or Dan Levy's Modus Poperandi where each host got their respective shine. Now however, MTV Live might as well be called the Paul and Daryn Show. There are only "internet style" bits done where the two play off eachother leaving Nicole Holness to do her little monkey dance on the side. She gets her very own segment featured, once in a blue moon, called Scarborough Farms where she dons the "hood" mentality and accent and talks about ghetto antics.

Needless to say the show is shot to hell. I want to know what happened to my show where we discussed issues like the Black Focused School or offered advice to people who wrote in? Where are the performances by artists like Adele and N.E.R.D? Where are the interviews with people that are really talented? I'm so confused and unfortunately I think there is no going back to the early days. WTF happened Canada? We were doing so well...
